Window replacement may seem like it should be a summer-only home improvement project, but there are many benefits to winter window replacement.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, poor or old windows could account for more than 25% of your average household energy bill. To put this in perspective, if you have older windows, during winter you could be losing up 25% of the heat your furnace is generating.
Luckily, you don’t have to wait until the weather warms up to replace your windows. You can replace your windows this winter and start saving on your energy bill now. And who doesn’t like saving money?
Three reasons winter window replacement could be for you.
Scheduling a Winter Window Replacement
Home improvement contractors often have lulls during the winter months, especially during the holidays. Chances are you could get your window installation scheduled much more quickly in winter than you could in spring or summer.

Winter Could Mean Even More Savings
Because winter is a slower season for the home improvement industry your contractor may offer additional discounts or other incentives. It’s definitely worth researching to see if you can get a better deal.
Immediate Results and Comfort
New windows affect the comfort of your home immediately.
One of our customers, Rebecca, had her windows replaced in January of 2016 and saw a drastic improvement the day they were installed. Here is Rebecca’s story.
We bought a 1986 colonial house in Virginia last August and knew all of the windows had to be replaced. We shopped around between Sears, Home Depot and Thompson Creek, but ultimately went with Home Depot. The Home Depot consultant came into our home, gave us a window demo and it was a no brainer, so we ended up making a purchase on January 2.
The install was scheduled for January 22, which is also when Winter Storm Jonas would be coming through the D.C. area. The Home Depot installers felt like they could do the job in a short amount of time and they did. They showed up at 8 a.m. sharp and wrapped up by 1 p.m.
We are loving the windows! My husband also tested the temperature difference between the new and old windows and instantly noticed a 25 degree improvement by testing the air temperature with a thermal imaging camera.
We are extremely pleased right now!
