Cleveland homeowner, Lorna Reardon, entered the Party on the Patio contest with her hopes set on receiving a new patio door because her current door was unsafe for her family.

“Our door was very unsafe and nonfunctional. We had all smashed our fingers in the door at some point because it wasn’t fitting the track correctly, and it leaked air so badly that I had to cover it with plastic in the winter,” Reardon said. “When I found out that I won, it was all very surreal to me. I really wanted to replace that door, but it just wasn’t in my budget this year. Now, we have an absolutely beautiful sliding door and I couldn’t be happier.”

Reardon’s patio was selected as one of three winners to receive a complete patio makeover from Simonton Windows and Doors and This Old House. The $10,000 makeover was used to completely transform her outdoor living space.

BEFORE 1Reardon’s previous, dysfunctional patio door was replaced with a new Inovo patio door, which immediately made a difference in her home.

“I love the blinds between the glass and the smooth movement of the door,” Reardon said.

Cleveland area contractors, Mentor Installed Services, were chosen to complete the patio makeover. Below are several of the improvements they made.

  • Installing the new Inovo patio door
  • Removing the old concrete patio
  • Replacing the patio with a new, more durable surface
  • Removing a nonfunctional grill

Following the patio transformation, Reardon received $1,000 to host a party to celebrate her new outdoor living space.

“I’m excited to invite my family and friends over to see how beautiful and inviting my patio is now. I’ll be able to relax and enjoy time with my kids, and grilling out will be easier this summer with the new patio and door. Plus, it will be nice to now have a screen to let in some fresh air when the weather is nice,” Reardon said.
