For the first time, Pantone has selected not one, but two colors of the year!
At first glance, Pantone’s 2016 colors of the year may bring to mind specific thoughts like a baby’s nursery, a striking sunset or even a flashback to the 80’s. But while Rose Quartz (a pale pink) and Serenity (a soft blue with a hint of violet) may seem too pastel, when they’re paired with a complementary color scheme or used as an accent color they are quite sophisticated and beautiful.
Pantone says the colors were chosen as, “a snapshot of what we see taking place in our culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.” They feel Rose Quartz conveys compassion and a sense of composure while Serenity is calming and relaxing, and together they blur the gender line.
Throughout the years, you’ve probably seen and used these colors, but wipe your design mind clean and look at some fresh ways to incorporate the 2016 colors of the year in your home.
