West Virginia Credit Union League Presents Charitable Donation to Simonton Windows President
PARKERSBURG, W. VA. – On May 4, 2009, Simonton Windows President Mark Savan accepted a $3,000 charitable donation on behalf of the non-profit organization Homes for Our Troops. The check was presented to the organization by West Virginia Credit Union League President Ken Watts, Senior Vice President Rich Schaffer and Administrative Assistant Leslie Newland.
“It is an honor to receive this substantial donation from the West Virginia Credit Union League (WVCUL) on behalf of the Homes for Our Troops board,” says Savan. “The funds accepted today will be used to build homes for severely injured servicemen and women returning from war. We are grateful to the WVCUL for their support and assistance in giving back to the military personnel and their families who sacrifice so much to protect our freedoms.”
The West Virginia Credit Union League is a multi-faceted organization that exists to further the development and progress of credit unions throughout the State of West Virginia.
“We are proud to support the national non-profit organization, Homes for Our Troops, which is much needed and a cause we believe in,” says President Ken Watts. “We recently held a silent, gift basket auction among our member credit unions throughout the state to raise funds for their cause. Through our research, we discovered that Mark Savan serves on the board of this organization, so we made arrangements for him to accept the donation locally, on their behalf.”
Both Watts and Savan agree that there is a possibility of working together in future endeavors to support the non-profit. “There is strength in numbers. I am certain that there will be opportunities in the future where the West Virginia Credit Union League and Simonton Windows can work together on projects to benefit Homes for Our Troops,” says Watts.
