Simonton Introduces Energy Tax Credit (ETC) Glass Packages for New Construction Windows
PARKERSBURG, W. VA. – Homeowners can now take advantage of the federal Energy Tax Credit by requesting Simonton ProFinish® new construction windows with Energy Tax Credit (ETC) glass packages. The window packages are guaranteed to meet the energy efficiency requirements set forth in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
“Homeowners who wish to completely reside their homes can use these energy-efficient new construction windows to gain the federal tax credit of up to $1,500,” says Tony Eschmeyer, senior product manager with Simonton Windows. “New construction projects do not qualify for the federal Energy Tax Credit. However, these new construction windows are designed with a nailing fin for easier installation on certain types of replacement projects, such as a complete siding removal.”
ETC glass packages are available in Simonton ProFinish® Brickmould 600, ProFinish® Brickmould 300 and ProFinish® Contractor product lines. The new ETC glass package options join the extensive line of Simonton replacement and impact-resistant windows already guaranteed to meet the U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 or less requirements for homeowners to receive up to $1,500 in tax credit when purchasing energy-efficient windows.
The homeowner credit is only allowed on the price of the qualified windows themselves, not on installation costs, onsite preparation, assembly or sales tax. The tax credit is allowable only for qualified window units placed in service in 2009 and 2010.
“Homeowners gain a triple benefit when requesting the ETC glass packages in Simonton windows,” says Eschmeyer. “They lower energy bills, gain eligibility to receive a federal tax credit and create a more comfortable living space.”
